CMart, 0-2, 3.57 vs Zach Davies, RH, 0-2, 8.79

Mystery Martinez goes tonite seeking his first W of the year. What we'll see is always a mystery.

the Cardinals are 61-30 against the Brewers the past 5 seasons and have won the season series every year.

Tyler Lyons should be returning to the pen sometime during our stay in Milwaukess.

Man, slow game thread last night huh. Carlos just baffles me so far this season. Dude looked to be our ace, got his contract, and hasn't done much since. Not sure if it's all upstairs or mechanics or what but hoping he gets it figured out sooner rather than later.

It was one of those nights where I tried to just disconnect and watch the game instead of bouncing around the Internet.

Martinez looked like he wasn't finishing his pitches in the first inning. There was a significant difference (enough that I noticed it, and I don't ever notice these things) in how he finished his pitches in the innings he struggled versus the innings he was good. So while I suggested to my wife he's probably hurt and pitching through it in the first, it could just be focus. All that peroxide gone to his head.

Either you get one of two reactions to a big contract. Either they press too hard trying to justify it or they lose focus because their head is with all the off the field stuff that is now an option. Just hope he snaps out of it soon. If he, Lynn, Wacha, and Leake can keep pitching like they should, then they can carry Wainwright.

When Shaw cracked his monster 3 run blast in the 1st inning Martinez was shaken. Kind of like when Rocky drew blood from Ivan Drago. The aire of invincibility was gone. He didn't settle down until the 4th when he began pitching instead of throwing the ball.

He has to learn that, although he has all the tools, he must focus every pitch and become a true pitcher instead of just believing he can simply fling the ball up there and he won't be touched up. Usually won't end well.
